Saudi sign language is the native language of the Saudi community’s deaf people. It has its own syntax and grammar which distinguish it apart from any other Arabic sign language. In this project, we’re attempting to construct a 3D avatar application for Saudi sign language in order to facilitate communication with deaf Saudis, particularly in interaction and information sharing between individuals involved. There aren’t enough resources for the Saudi sign lan- guage, such as datasets and a digital copy of the Saudi sign dictionary. As part of a translation system, we will build an initial dictionary. Saudi speech will be converted using a speech recog- nition engine, after which the words will be processed and the signs will be generated using motion capture tools. In addition to several animation generation software that will be used to create the 3D avatar. Everything will be integrated together to represent the right sign in accordance with the spoken word/sentence. This is, to our knowledge, the first study of a 3D avatar translation system for Saudi sign language that addresses the most recent research on Avatar-based translation systems, as well as the tools and techniques utilized to develop the system, such as avatar creation tools and translation systems.
